Jeff Zimpel - A Visual Resume
A resume is nice, but for artists/designers sometimes it's better to have some visual reference points to understand what we've been up to. Below you will find a collection of some of my favorite projects and creations. For a more in-depth look at a number of the visuals below, make your way to the bottom of the site and click the Behance button.
PAINTING IS THE WAY I THINK THROUGH AND ABOUT PHILOSOPHICAL IDEAS. THIS IS THE AVENUE IN WHICH I INVESTIGATE THE WORLD, MYSELF, AND THE MOST COMPLEX & ESSENTIAL THOUGHTS I CAN FIND.
Paintings Are Daydreams Made Physical
After a paradigm-shifting Philosophy of Art course in college, I gained the most wonderful insight: Art, or artifacts, have the potential to serve as vessels for ideas. These ideas have the potential to be activated, and re-activated as viewers interact with said artifacts. More importantly, visual art has the potential to be an outlet for one's philosophy - a "next step" when a person entertains a new or challenging perspective. When art is treated in this way, it has the potential to be so much more than just something pretty (and expensive) on the wall.
ORGANIZING IDEAS AND INFORMATION IN A VISUALLY POWERFUL & STRATEGIC WAY.
Promotional Designs / Graphic Design
Graphic Design is my method of solving problems through visual communication. This is a less organic, less subconscious way of creating, compared to painting. Instead, I consciously 1) State a Problem, 2) Research, 3) Brainstorm, 4) Ideate, 5) Present, and finally, 6) Reflect.

Educational information & ideas Should be engaging
Our students are living in the most awesome and saturated visual landscape human beings have ever seen. They are developing their tastes for what is relevant and important at an accelerated pace, yet, our educational institutions are not evolving quickly enough in this respect. Education has the difficult task of teaching students how to navigate this brave new world, and it's ability to do so at the highest levels, I argue, depends on how it packages and delivers the ideas.
WITH HELP FROM MY ARTIST COLLABORATOR AND FRIEND, NICK SCHILZ, WE DESIGNED AN "ARTIST RESIDENCY THAT COMES TO YOU." WE PITCHED IT TO CARDINAL STRITCH UNIVERSITY AND THEY AGREED TO HOST US AS ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR.
Create Space MKE Exhibition - Phase 1
The Create Space MKE project combines everything above with the aim of interweaving Philosophy, Art, Design, and Education. Continue on throughout the rest of this website for a broader understanding of the project and where it is headed.
